Cheshire West & Chester Council have launched a grants programme to allow voluntary and community sector organisations the space and funding to pilot new projects that support older and vulnerable people to live independently, stay connected in their communities and able to live in their own homes.

After 21 years of service on the Cheshire Community Action Board, our dedicated Chairman, Kathy Benn MBE has stood down from the Board to look after her health and to care for her husband at home. Kathy has steered the organisation through some interesting times including: three office moves, fluctuations in funding and staff, development of new services in health, planning and housing, and of course, a global pandemic! 

Cheshire Community Action has two Board vacancies. We are looking for dynamic individuals with strong leadership skills who understand the voluntary and community sector, and issues affecting rural communities.

We are looking for two new voluntary Board Members with skills in charity finance and accounting, and mental health provision to join our governing body.

Last year the CPRE, English Rural and the Rural Services Network commissioned a report to evaluate the case for building more affordable homes in rural areas.

Following last year’s launch of Cheshire Community Homes, we are delighted that the Government has announced that £4m in revenue funding has been allocated to a renewed Community Housing Fund.
