Village Halls across Cheshire celebrate
Village halls across Cheshire opened their doors in March as part of Village Halls Week 2026. A nationwide celebration, highlighting the enormous positive impact that community buildings have on rural life.
The seven-day celebration unites local communities across Cheshire and beyond, bringing residents together for a week of socialising, fundraising, and raising awareness of the vital role village halls play.
Community Home First: Report 2025

As demand for safe, supported NHS hospital discharge continued to rise across Cheshire, our teams at Mid‑Cheshire Hospital (MCH) and the Countess of Chester Hospital (COCH) stepped up to deliver compassionate, person‑centred support when people needed it most. Cheshire Community Action launches Cheshire West Welcoming Spaces Fund for 2025–26
We’re pleased to confirm that the Cheshire West Welcoming Spaces Grant Fund is returning for 2025–26 and will open for applications on Monday 1st December 2025. The fund is designed to help community organisations, parish and town councils, and community buildings provide warm, welcoming spaces for residents who are feeling the impact of the cost-of-living crisis.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has again allocated funding to support local venues to open their doors as Welcoming Spaces – safe, friendly places where people can keep warm, meet others, and find out about practical help and support. Cheshire Community Action (CCA) will administer the grants on the Council’s behalf.

**Job Vacancy** Hospital Community Pathfinder
The Hospital Community Pathfinder is a pivotal role within integrated discharge at the Countess of Chester and Ellesmere Port Hospitals, responsible for enhancing the hospital discharge process by facilitating smooth transitions for patients from hospital care to their homes through coordination with the wider voluntary sector and other partners. This role aims to reduce unnecessary delays in hospital care and improve patient outcomes by creatively seeking alternative community-based provisions through social prescription and utilising 3rd sector knowledge.

Neighbourhood Planning Funding Withdrawn: A Setback for Community-Led Planning Across Cheshire and Warrington
The Government has announced that it will no longer fund new neighbourhood planning support beyond March 2025. Locality, which delivers the support programme on behalf of the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), confirmed shortly after the spending review that no new grants or technical assistance packages will be available for groups producing neighbourhood plans. Existing support already approved will be completed by March 2026 at the latest.
